Rod Tam, City Councilman of the 6th Council District (Kalihi Valley, Kam. Heights, Alewa Heights, Puunui, Liliha, Nuuanu, Pacific Heights, Pauoa, Punchbowl, Makiki, Tantalus, Kakaako, Downtown, Chinatown) since 2002 and a 2010 Mayoral Candidate, for the City and County of Honolulu; stated today that he has been a strong advocate for Open Government throughout his political career.
TAM stands behind 2 beliefs:
• Democracy. Government belongs to the people and shall be governed by the people’s voice and involvement.
• Open government. Government shall be representative of people through elected public representative and open public hearings in the creation of laws, resolutions, rules and regulations.
As Mayor of the City & ‘County of Honolulu, Rod TAM’s will:
• Develop short-term and long-term economic plans to stabilize and stimulate the City & County of Honolulu.
• Efficiently and productively hear and resolve city issues of residents.
• Provide efficient and productive city public services.
• Increase city employees’ morale.
TAM, has stated yesterday, “I will not back down from my basic principals of government.” Community members have recently approached Rod Tam regarding his stand on the “RAIL”. TAM responded, “Although I originally voted in favor of the rail, it has come to my attention that there may not have been sufficient research done on the efficiency or practicality of putting a rail system in Honolulu. I am currently doing my own research on the matter and will reply at a later date.”

Aloha e Rod,
Wow what an improvement! I really like the blog and what you are saying about the rail because, it's true. I live in Waimanalo (on Crown lands) and have been a warrior on the frontlines of the independence movement and will be talking to my friends and family to vote for you because we really need to do something to save all of the agricultural lands for food security, not buildings or more shopping centers...such as in Koa Ridge where Castle and Cooke wants to build another shopping center to serve the thousands of other homes they want to build on the lands.
Anyway, I am going to be coming out to support you more.
Keep up the good work and DON'T give in to the political pressures caused by the certain factions within the media.
Know that you are a threat to the greedy money man and it's time to to tell them, enough is enough!
